Haruhiko Masunaga

I was born in 1962 as a second son of the 6 children to the world famous founder of the Zen Shiatsu, Shizuto Masunaga. I was not particularly weak or frail as a child but whenever I came down with a cold, had a fever, or suffered from food poisoning, it was my father who treated me by giving me shiatsu so I never needed to see a doctor. My father, Shizuto Masunaga, passed away when I was a 19 year-old university student. After graduating from the University, I worked at an accountant's office. However, I wanted to transmit the real Zen Shiatsu (the Meridian Shiatsu) that my father has left behind, to as many people as possible. So I attended a professional training school for 3 years and obtained national qualification for shiatsu when I was 40 years old. Since then, I treat and teach courses at the IOKAI Shiatsu Center in Tokyo that my father has founded. In addition, I give shiatsu courses overseas every year mainly in Europe. ‍
